Come Dance

Every child has known God,
Not the God of names,
Not the God of don’ts,
Not the God who ever does
Anything weird,
But the God who knows only 4 words.
And keeps repeating them, saying:
“Come Dance with Me, come dance.”

~Hafiz
I was, I am, I will be
Your voice
Your eyes
Your hands
Your feet
Your ears
Your roots
Under the mighty oak tree
In the depths of the dappled sunlight
In the call of the nightingale
In the rush of the wind
In the beating of my heart
I feel Your presence
Wash over me in waves
As I edge closer to Your shore
Barefoot and vulnerable
Come
       Dance with Me
                      Come Dance

This is beautiful. There’s a lot we learn as we mature, but there’s also a risk of losing touch with things like this. What adults have long-since forgotten, children live. 🤍

  2. Hafiz always makes me smile deeply with his delightful wisdom and so do you. Thank you for sharing your inspiration. “I feel Your presence
Wash over me in waves,” reminds me of what I’ve felt in the ocean and that I don’t need the ocean to feel these waves and enjoy the dance.

  3. Beautiful image and words! May we continue to dance. This morning I heard a classical piece inspired by this Persian poet and will explore more. Funny that I should encounter another of his poems today through you. Thanks!
