ABOUT ME: AN EVOLVING JOURNEY

The tide has shifted and changed
I will no longer be shamed
I will no longer be silenced
I will no longer be tied to ugly secrets and lies
I have single-handedly dismantled
The infernal prison you trapped me in
Brick by brick

I am a fierce and gentle warrior
I am the starkness and the rebirth
I am the winter solstice
I am the moon-child of Mother Earth
I am the roots intertwining
Beneath the frozen dirt

I am a knower
I am a seeker
I am a spiritual decoder
I am a survivor reclaiming my stolen worth
I am the veil between living and dying
I speak in tattered words and unchained verse
Welcome wayfarers and journeyers!
Let us sow seedlings together
In our seasons of sadness and mirth

  1. Dear Mother Wintermoon, your poetry is so powerful, extremely moving and breathtakingly beautiful. As a survivor of different chains that bind, I strongly relate to these lyrical lines:

“ I am a survivor reclaiming my stolen worth
I am the veil between living and dying
I speak in tattered words and unchained verse”

You have a wonderful, relatable gift that expresses the joy of finally breaking free from whatever has kept us chained. Keep on writing words that weave their way into hurting hearts. Bless you.

You already had my attention. But after reading this, I guess now I have to stalk you.

Not in a creepy way! Not in a creepy way! 😉

Your way with words fascinates me.

  6. I am deeply touched at the coincidences moving Spirit toward the meeting of our beings. Your words speak to my inner-most secrets, the dark side we all hide… until we grow wings to fly directly into it’s blackness, ripping it open to drink in the light that didn’t run. Glad you said hello! 😉

  9. Hi,

Apart from reading a lot of inspiring poetry, I am on a mission today:
Would you be willing to lend your wonderful talents to this project?

We have 140 contributions to date, and I am trying again to rope in as many contributors to the Poets for Peace challenge (in place until this the end of August). The many voices in response to this have been fantastic, and I’d love you to add yours (again, if applicable) if you can. Feel free to use an existing piece of writing or a new one asking for peace and/or about the troubled times in which we live.

If you are interested, please leave your poem in the comments section of Neha’s blog and it will be added. https://forgottenmeadows.wordpress.com/2016/07/16/calling-all-poetscreative-minds-to-a-grand-collaboration-poets-for-peace/comment-page-5/#comment-19287

    Thank you –
    Your voice matters,
    Lubesh

‘We are so grateful to be part of this community where poets and creative minds from around the world stand together uniting for PEACE! This collaboration is open till August 31st and we hope to see more of you join in!’

  12. What a wonderful introduction, love the poem, sorry that you seem to have had so much trouble. I have had quite a few friends that have suffered rape, and violence from boy friends, it is very unnerving to realize just how common these dastardly acts are. Thanks for liking, reading and following my blog. I have written quite a bit against violence against women and children. Best wishes and blessings, Charles.

    1. Yes, we still live in a rape culture society, where sexual violence against women is commonplace. The headlines attest to that. 1 in 3 women are sexually assaulted or abused. Some things never seem to change. Thanks so much Charles, for being a force of good in the world. I deeply appreciate your awareness, your caring words, and your support. It’s good that you have spoken out about violence towards women in your writing. Peace be upon you, MW

      1. It is a most unfortunate state of affairs, in the poor communities here on the Cape Flats, one of the ways to survive is to join a gang, and unfortunately one of the prerequisites for joining is that you have to publicly rape a woman (are we really living in the 21st century?) so the problem here is massive. There are moves to try and change this, and stop this abuse of women. I pray that it will stop. Best wishes and blessings, Charles.

          1. I have followed you on Facebook, but I went the other way round, from Facebook to this blog, so do not go onto Facebook that much. I tend to share everything on my blog on Facebook, and look at Facebook ones or twice a week, but if you are there i will try go over more often. As much as we would like to think that in the new South Africa things change quite fast actually they don’t and we are still struggling with a lot of the evils that happened because of Apartheid, and this is one of them. Charles.

I love your words, especially “I am Gaia, the Triple Goddesses, the turtle bridging heaven and earth, the voice of a woman breaking barriers of silencing in tattered words, and unchained verse” blessed be the feminine, blessed be the mother…

  17. Wisdom and power…You wrote: ” am a wounded warrior, my scars an aching web, over the spirit of the Phoenix rising from the ashes.”

I relate to those words. I believe in the power of the wounded healer. The best leaders are the ones that transcend pain and oppression.

whether it be an ember or small flame, you passed survivor well into thriving I suspect….
I had to think on your words here…and come back 🙂
they flow with the whispers on the wind….
I have been known to be a midnight gardener, such a calm energy at that hour….
your “unchained verse” makes me smile….for too long I let someone chain what I wrote….
this is a year of awakening after four very long years, so to speak for me, I am enjoying remembering who I am….maybe you will let me use that phrase sometime 🙂
    I really like your thoughts….
Thank you for sharing yourself with us…..
