Wings and Claws

I
Feathers floating…
Falling…

II
Sharp talons scratching
At my thoughts

III
Feathers drifting down
Engulfing me
In a cloud of raven black

IV
My words are wings and claws
The color of the midnight sky

V
Feathers soft and sharp
Powerful and fragile
Dipped into my inkwell
Scratch, scratch, scratch

VI
My words are wings and claws
My thoughts are velvety feathers
As dark as the blue-black sky

VII
I am the Morrigan
Protector and stormy pathway
Shape-shifting Goddess
Of fate and death

VIII
I am the Morrigan
Traversing dimensions
Goddess of prophesy,
Night, magic, and revenge

IX
I carry souls
Within my inky wings
To be rebirthed
At my behest

X
Feathers drifting down
Plumose onyx
My thoughts are wings and claws
My words are the midnight sky

The Morrigan — Shape-shifting Celtic Raven Goddess of War, Death, Fate, Night, Magic, Prophecy and Revenge.

Cheers to dVerse and our host Bjorn. We’re delving into cubism as a poetry form, where many small poems are written on the same object providing context as a whole.

  1. Your words portray your emotions.
    Definitely would be cathartic!
Some of these are so beautiful. Actually they are all beautiful. Some, like this, it’s painful to read. Hurts to feel what you’d have felt when writing. It is beautiful, too.

Did you send me a link to your poetry? I thought I saw a link, but now I can’t find that comment. Maybe I imagined it. LOL

Hi MWM – the deep words of your soul are magnified in truth – only known to those who have survived – who have wrestled with dark and light good and evil. YOU are a goddess of truth – as am I and so many here – I am humbly surrounded by the light of truth casting shadow and veil over darkness – together we protect our vulnerability and inspire our light to shine – thank you MotherWinterMoon, thank you…….
    Love Gail
    peace……

  3. I like how the pace builds through the poem with drifting and fluttering feathers until there is a storm of black winging through the night. Glad you linked to this prompt.

      1. I actually read analysis of the poem by Wallace Stevens, and then I thought how the combination of simplification and perspectives would be very interesting to do… I did the one about Gertrude Stein and cubism before… but that was different… But reading poetry analysis helps me learn about the thought behind…
